Hae Kyung Lee & Dancers
As a solo artist for more than ten years, Hae Kyung Lee formed the company: Hae Kyung Lee & Dancers. Her choreography explores provocative and innovative aesthetic means of expression as they relate to a unified reflection of human existence; the spiritual strengths of her Korean ancestry with the sensibility that is uniquely contemporary and Postmodern. Using the human body as expression of movement, her works traverse the extremes of stark minimalism and high voltage energy. Essential to her creative process is each dancer’s integrity and individualism.
Hae Kyung Lee & Dancers have been invited to perform at International and National Dance Festivals: Belluard Bollwerk International (BBI) Festival in Fribourg, Switzerland; Universitaet Mainz, Germany; Festspielhaus Hellerau, Germany; the ChangMu International Dance Festival in Korea; the LG Arts International Dance Festival in Seoul, Korea; Tanzwoche International Dance Festival in Dresden, Germany; Kleines Haus Spaapsschaupiel Dance Festival in Germany; the Soho Arts Festival in New York; the World Festival of Sacred Music; the Getty Museum; the John Anson Ford Theatre and the ODC Theatre in San Francisco.
The company has collaborated on diverse projects with such well-known artists as composers: Bob de Young, Steve Moshier, Carl Stone, Robert Een, Wes Hambright; filmmaker Allen Yamashita; photographer Eric Lawton; set designers: Aki Chien and Chris Acebo.
